Beach vacation

We just returned from a weekend vacation at the beach. It was an interesting trip. I had a terrible cold, Collin did not sleep through the night for the first time in weeks, and Avery had her first fever in about 2 years. Ugh. But we did manage to have some fun in between all of that.

Here is Avery on our way to the beach. She was so excited, she had to wear her sun hat the whole way there....


When we got there, it was a beautiful day (60's and sunny)....

It's still whale watching week, so Avery and Jon were on the look out for them. Avery was so excited to use her binoculars again...

They also had a great time running around on the beach...

Trot also had a great time! It was the most exercise he's gotten in a long time...

It was sunny, but really windy at the beach. Once we found a little sheltered place to sit Collin was much happier...

Unfortunately this is the only picture I have of our kids' first bath together! Collin is still not a fan of bathtime, but he is even less of a fan of Avery screaming in his face! She was just so excited...

After a beautiful first day at the beach, the weather turned nasty. The next day was super rainy, windy and cold. But we bundled up and went on a short hike in the state park nearby. We definitely had the trails to ourselves. We have a picture similar to this when we first took Avery on this same hike when she was about 3 months old too....

We also made it up to Astoria, OR for the first time. The highlights were an awesome lunch at a little organic cafe, seeing the sea lions...

...seeing the school from Kindergarten Cop....

...and some really pretty views even on a really rainy day.

Avery's school

Avery's daycare sent home a disc with pictures from the first half of her school year. It was so nice to see all these pictures - it shows us a whole side of Avery that we don't see when we are at work. I thought I would share them as I know at least Avery's grandma's have both been really interested in seeing Avery's school. You can see that books, art projects, yoga, and walks around campus are favorite activities.

Visit from Grandma Kathy and Grampa Warren...

We had a great visit with Kathy and Warren last weekend. Here is Collin meeting his Grandma Kathy...

The weather was great all weekend! We got to take a couple trips to the park...

It was almost 60 degrees and sunny in Portland on Saturday, so we thought it would be a good day to head to the beach to look for whales. Umm...it was about 40 and super windy at the beach, and we were not dressed for it! I think it was even too cold for the whales as we did not see any. But we did see some Elk. And at least we got a couple good pictures, including one of Collin's first trip to Cannon Beach.....

Collin - 3 month

Collin turned 3 months old last weekend. He is over 16 lbs and wearing 6 - 9 month old clothes! He's been smiling a lot, and sleeping really well at night (about 11pm - 7am!!) and he just laughed out loud for the first time today!!

Happy St Patrick's Day!!

We had a great St Patrick's Day here. Avery started out her day with Green Eggs and Ham and the kids wore green all day....


I think it is amazing how quickly Collin is growing. Avery was 9 months old on her first St Patty's day and wore this cute green shirt. And here is Collin filling out the same shirt at only 3 months old!!

Our kids are getting so big...this is a real workout now!! Collin is over 16 lbs already!!
