Walking

Avery has been walking all over lately...

Uncle Nick

Avery's uncle Nick came to visit this weekend!

The weather was pretty rainy, so we stayed mostly indoors. We took Avery on her first trip to the Portland Children's Museum.

Avery got to play with Dinosaurs...

and with trains...

Later, Uncle Nick read some books to Avery...

And she tried to read some to him too...

We were sad to see Uncle Nick go back to Detroit today. We miss him already! Although I'm sure he's glad not to have to watch tonight's Pistons/Celtics game with these two...

Avery's weekend

Our weekend weather was super hot. So we spent a lot of time outdoors. We went to the Farmer's Market downtown on Saturday and had lunch in the park. Avery was doing her best to pick up every leaf in the park and hand it to her dad...

Then she had fun playing "upside down baby"....

Later on, we went swimming. Here is Avery practicing her walking before we went into the pool...

On Sunday, we took Avery to her first political event. Both candidates have been in Oregon this weekend, getting ready for our primary on Tuesday. Clinton had a few private speeches and a televised town hall meeting. And Obama had a public rally downtown on the waterfront.

They were expecting about 10,000 people to show up to hear Obama speak...but there were actually 75,000 people! About twice the size of any of his crowds so far.

Avery update

Avery is growing up too fast. She now insists on feeding herself! Well, it's really a cross between eating and artwork. Trot loves this new phase!!!

Here she is after drinking a bottle on her own in the kitchen. I swear it was just formula in this bottle...

For mothers day, Avery got up early and made me breakfast with her dad...

And then we lounged around most of the rest of the day. Really, there should be more than 1 day a year for mothers, but I may be biased....

Half Marathon!

Avery might be into Basketball as I said in my last post, but she also likes to Cheer! Here she is getting ready to cheer me on at the Eugene Half Marathon this weekend! We're standing in front of Hayward field where the 2008 Olympic trials for track & field will be held later this summer.
Here I am about to start...and wondering why I'm about to do this! And on 3 hours of sleep no less (Avery really didn't like sleeping in the hotel, but luckily Jon is a saint and drove her around Eugene at 3:30am so I could try to sleep more!).
I made it!! Here's my little Cheerleader wearing my finisher's medal...

2nd steps!!!

As I said in my post last week, I missed Avery's first steps...but I caught her 2nd steps!! I was just trying to record her making a few shots on her new Basketball hoop (Jon's already getting her ready for the WNBA), but then she decided to walk over to another toy. I took this a few days ago, and since then, she has been taking a few steps each day. Not really walking yet, but definitely getting a couple of feet without hanging onto anything...
